Scholarship Programs

The George Alexander Foundation first began supporting tertiary scholarships in 2002. The Scholarship Program is now a cornerstone of the Foundation's philanthropy.

In partnership with higher education institutions across Australia, The George Alexander Foundation Scholarship Programs offer access to the opportunity of education, assisting promising students to fulfil their potential.

The George Alexander Foundation Scholarship Program welcomed its first scholars in 2002 via programs at Griffith University in Queensland and RMIT University in Victoria. The objective of each program was to provide scholarships to students with academic ability, leadership potential, and a commitment to their community.

As a former RMIT lecturer and alumnus, and as a Queensland resident, George felt a personal link to both these institutions.

Encouraging bright young students, regardless of background, has been immensely satisfying.

Since 2002, the Foundation has established Scholarship Programs with 16 institutions. Currently, there are 12 active scholarship programs operating in partnership with 11 universities and one TAFE institute.

Several scholarship programs focus on supporting young people from regional, rural, or remote areas in recognition of the challenges students face relocating to pursue study.

I really love that George Alexander used his wealth to break down barriers for others, so they could access further education to one day serve the community.

The Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant applications and cannot fund individuals: all our programs are offered through our partnerships with organisations, primarily universities, TAFEs and other education institutions.
