The George Alexander Foundation Leadership Scholarship Program at Victoria University aims to support young people to achieve their full academic and leadership potential.
The George Alexander Foundation first offered scholarship support to Victoria University through the university's Achievement Scholarships program in 2013–2015. Both higher education and vocational education scholars were supported through this program.
The current GAF Leadership Scholarship Program commenced in 2015 and focuses on supporting year 12 school leavers and returning students (aged 18–22 years) studying an undergraduate course in the College of Arts, Education, or Health and Biomedicine at Victoria University that potentially leads to a community-focused career. As with all GAF scholarships, applicants must have strong results, leadership potential and an active interest in the community.
The GAF Leadership Scholarship Program was renewed in 2017, and will offer five scholarships each year valued at $22,500 over three years, with scholarship awards committed until 2020.
"The scholarship has provided a source of motivation to ensure I do the best I can in my studies and in everyday life."
