Whether you are a current scholar or fellow or an alumnus, let us keep you informed of major news and events as well as opportunities to participate in the broader GAF Community.
There are currently over 100 GAF students at universities and TAFE colleges receiving study support through the GAF Scholarship Program. While the scholarships are individual - awarded for criteria including talent, drive and community involvement - the experience of being a GAF scholar represents interests, abilities and an attitude to life that is shared with other GAF scholars around Australia.
Informal GAF scholars groups have been set up by students at some universities, providing social connections such as a buddy program and networking events. One such program was initiated by 2009 GAF scholar James Hicks, who organised the GAF scholars at Swinburne to take part in community volunteering, such as tree planting programs for conservation volunteers.
George Alexander was hopeful that one day GAF students would connect and have the opportunity to share experiences and learn from each other. With the advent of social media, this hope is easily converted to reality. You can stay connected with the Foundation and other scholars or fellows by joining our LinkedIn group, liking our page on Facebook or following us on Instagram. We hope all GAF students will join our social channels and use it to connect with other GAF scholars, both past and present.
Similarly, hundreds of GAF alumni are now 'at large' in the community, applying their talents and passions to a huge range of endeavours and contributing to the community in various capacities. In keeping with the GAF community spirit, we would love to keep in touch with graduate GAF scholars as they move into the next chapters of their lives, and for them to share their experiences with new and current GAF Scholars.
If you are a GAF scholar or alumnus, please register your contact details with us at email@example.com so you can receive our e-newsletter Campus. You can also join the GAF group on LinkedIn to network with other GAF alumni.
You can always see an overview of the latest posts from our social channels on the Our Community page. We are also always looking for new GAF stories to put on the website so write and tell us your GAF story.
It's all part of George's dream of 'planting seeds and hoping they grow into pretty big trees'. We look forward to hearing from you.
